A life-long baker, I had long ago mastered the art of baking cookies. Simple, but elegant and oh-so-tasty, I was a regular cookie baker (A fact that made my college friends and coworkers very, very happy.). But despite my cookie-baking prowess, I was intimidated by homemade cakes and any recipe involving yeast or a meringue sent me running swiftly in the opposite direction.
This blog is the story of a breakup: my difficult breakup with Betty Crocker and a start of a new, exciting baking relationship. A relationship full of cakes from scratch, curds, ganaches, fluffy icings, tarts, pies, and other delicious baked things, made completely from scratch.
